36 hours of hands-on study of holy icons and the Orthodox faith. Goal is to complete a simple icon of Archangel Michael using the traditional Byzantine method of egg tempera and natural pigments. Each session will include lecture on theory and its corresponding technique along with the practice of making an icon.
The class will be taught by Lynette Hull, an affiliate instructor of the Prosopon School of Iconology.
No previous art training required.
Schedule: Two 6 hour Saturday classes (10am - 5pm) Nine 3 hour Monday evening classes (7pm - 10pm)
Dates: Saturday, January 28th (Attendance on this day is a requirement for the workshop)
Monday evenings: Jan 30, Feb 6, 13, 20, 27, March 6, 13, 20, 27 Sat. April 22nd (6 teaching hours) 10am to 5pm, Sat. April 29 Make up day
Cost: $120 per person. Partial scholarships available.
